The Youngstown State football team held their first practice of the fall on Thursday morning at Stambaugh Stadium.

YSU has a full roster of 105 players this camp, the largest in school history. Of the players who are in camp this August, more than 30 are newcomers.

The Guins do have their share of veterans to lead the way.

On offense, senior quarterback Hunter Wells, senior offensive tackle Justin Spencer, junior center Vitas Hrynkiewicz, junior guard Gavin Wiggins, senior tight ends Kevin Rader and Shane Kuhn and wide receivers Damoun Patterson, Alvin Bailey, Ricky Davis and Stefan Derrick.

On defense, senior linebacker Lee Wright, junior linebacker Armand Dellovade, defensive tackles Donald Mesier and Savon Smith while in the secondary Jalyn Powell, Billy Nicoe Hurst and D.J. Thomas have the most experience.

Dellovade, Spencer, Schuler and Hrynkiewicz were named preseason All-MVFC.

On Thursday, the Guins were able to have No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 units on the field throughout the workout.

The Penguins return to practice on Friday.
