The Youngstown State football team had three student-athletes named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference's All-Academic team the league announced on Wednesday.
Hrynkiewicz was a second-team All-MVFC honoree in 2017. He strarted all 11 contests at center for the Penguins and was a key part of a unit that averaged 222.5 yards per game this past year. Dellovade was also a second-team All-MVFC pick and started all 11 games. He was second on the team with 76 total tackles, 60 of which came in conference games. Hegedus came on to start the final 10 games of the season at safety. He ended the season ranked third on the team in tackles with 74.

Started all 11 games at linebacker…finished second on the team with 76 total tackles, including 40 solo stops…had 5.5 TFLs and three sacks…in MVFC play had 60 tackles, including 32 solo stops…had six-or-more tackles on seven occasions…had a career-best 15 stops at UNI…had 11 tackles against Illinois State, including 10 solos…had nine tackles at Pittsburgh…at Indiana State registered eight stops…finished with seven tackles against NDSU…had six stops against Missouri State and South Dakota…had two sacks vs. USD and one vs. MSU…intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter vs. South Dakota State.
SS Kyle Hegedus, YSU, Sophomore, 5-11, 190 3.89, Exercise Science/Physical Therapy
Started the final 10 games at safety…finished third on the team in tackles with 74 total stops and ranked second with 46 solo tackles…recovered two fumbles and had an interception…in MVFC games, had 55 total tackles, including 32 solos…had a career-high 11 tackles at UNI…had five-or-more tackles in eight games…was credited with 10 tackles at Pittsburgh…had nine stops against Robert Morris and South Dakota (six solos)…had seven tackles against Illinois State…had six stops against NDSU and Indiana State…credited with five tackles vs. SDSU…YSU's pass defense allowed just 143.7 yards per game and a 46.7 completion percentage…is a third-year sophomore.
