Kyle Hegedus Named CoSIDA Academic All-Distrtict

Youngstown State senior safety Kyle Hegedus has been named to the 2019 Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by CoSIDA, the organization announced on Thursday.

Hegedus was named the All-District Five team which encompasses the states of Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana.

This season, Hegedus has stated nine of 10 games for the Penguins at safety. He ranks second on the team with 47 total tackles and leads the Penguins with 31 solo stops. He is tied for the team lead in forced fumbles and interceptions. 

Hegedus, a native of Brook Park, Ohio, graduated from YSU last spring and is enrolled in YSU's Masters of Athletic Training program. He was a semifinalist for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy this year as well.

He is the first YSU football player since Steve Zaborsky in 2015 to be named Academic All-District.

The Academic All-America Division I team will be announced on Dec. 9.
