Men's Basketball Hosts Defending Tournament Champion Northern Kentucky Thursday Night

Youngtown State Storylines

• First-year Head Coach Jerrod Calhoun became the program's 13th head coach on March 28, 2017.
• Senior guard Cameron Morse needs just 246 more points to become the third player in program history to record 2,000 points in a career.
• Morse became the 10th player school history to score 1,700 points and ranks 8th all-time with 1,754. 
• Morse also needs 238 points to become YSU's Division I all-time leading scorer. The YSU Division I scoring record is 1,991 by set by Kendrick Perry (2010-14).
• Freshman Naz Bohannon became the first YSU freshman to post at least three double-double in season since joining the Horizon League in 2001-02.
• Bohannon ranks third in Horizon League play with 8.2 rebounds per game. He also ranks seventh overall with 7.4 rpg.
• Senior Cameron Morse has scored 1,001 points in his last 46 Horizon League games for an average of 21.8 points per game.
• Morse ranks in the YSU top 10 in 3-pointers made (2nd), points per game (7th), scoring (8th), free throws made (8th), field goals made (9th), steals (9th), assists (10th). 
• Sophomore Braun Hartfield ranks 9th in the Horizon League in scoring (14.3), second in steals per game (1.6).
• In league play, Morse ranks sixth in scoring (16.4 points per game) and Hartfield ranks ninth (14.9 points per game).

The Northern Kentucky Series
• This is the 16th meeting between Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky in a series that dates back to 1976.  
• The Penguins own a 10-5 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last six played at the Beeghly Center. 
• Last season, the Penguins won, 81-77, at the Beeghly Center.
• The Norse defeated the Penguins, 83-70, in Highland Heights and 84-74 in the Horizon League Tournament Semifinals.

Morse Now in 8th Place on YSU Scoring List
• With 23 points against IUPUI on Jan. 20, senior Cameron Morse moved into eighth place on the YSU all-time scoring list and now has 1,754 career points.
• He also ranks third on the YSU Division I scoring chart.
• Morse needs 246 points to become the third player in school history to score 2,000 career points.
• Morse also needs 238 points to become YSU's Division I all-time leading scorer with 1,992 points.
• Last season, Morse scored 711 points and had 608 as a sophomore.
Benton Among 3 Leaders
• Senior Jaylen Benton ranks among the top 3-point shooters in the Horizon League. 
• Benton carries a 3-point percentage of .373 and ranks tied for 13th in the Horizon League. 
•He also owns an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.2 ranks third on the team with 50 assists. 
• Benton has also scored in double figures eight times this season. 
Morse Vs. NKU
• In six games against Northern Kentucky, Cameron Morse averaged 20.5 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from 3-point range and 86.2 percent from the free-throw line. 
• He also has four 20-point games against the Norse, including 29 as a sophomore in 2016. 
• In three home games vs. NKU, he averaged 17.7 points per game.
Covington Making Moves
• Freshman Garrett Covington continues to improve as the year goes on. 
• Over the last eight games, Covington averaged 10.1 points per game and shot and 48.8 percent (13-for-27) from 3-point range. 
• He has scored in double figures 10 times this year, including 17 points against Green Bay in an 85-74 win on Jan. 6.
Bohannon Board Crashing
• Freshman Naz Bohannon is becoming one of the Horizon League's top rebounders.
• Over the last 14 games, Bohannon has grabbed 117 rebounds for an average of 8.1 per game.
• Bohannon ranks seventh in the Horizon League with 7.4 rebounds per game and is averaging 8.2 rebounds in league play, which ranks fourth.
• He has recorded at least six rebounds in 18 of 23 games.
