Jamir Thomas, a 6-foot-8 forward from Passaic, N.J., has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Youngstown State men's basketball team for the 2019-20 season, Head Coach Jerrod Calhoun announced on Wednesday. Thomas will have two years of eligibility at Youngstown State.
"We are excited to add a player of Jamir's caliber to our program," Calhoun said. "He has great size and has tremendous skill around the basket. We look forward to him joining us and making an immediate impact next season."
Thomas, a sophomore at Garden City Community College, averaged 13.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game as a freshman and was named to the All-Jayhawk Conference Team. He recorded nine double-doubles and ranked second in the conference in blocks and third in rebounds.
This season, Thomas is averaging 16.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and four assists per game while shooting 70 pecent from the field. He has scored in double figures in each game, including a season-high 23 points and 16 rebounds against Redlands Community College.
