Conn, Olbrych Place 12th to Pace Penguins at MSU Fossum Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. -- Senior Anthony Conn and sophomore Mark Olbrych tied for 12th to lead the Youngstown State men's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the season-opening Fossum Invitational host by Michigan State on the West Course at the Forest Akers Golf Club. The final round was played on Sunday after 36 holes were held on Saturday.

The Penguins carded a three-round score of 906 with rounds of 303, 300 and 303. IUPUI upset the host Spartans by four strokes carding an 875. MSU was second with an 879 while Oakland was third.

Conn had rounds of 72, 75 and 74 to finish with a five-over-par total of 221. Olbrych finished with the same score as Conn following rounds of 75, 76 and 70.

Other competitors for the Penguins included Joe Santisi who was 52nd with a 234 (82-74-78), Bryan Yeo who was 55th with a 239 (77-77-81) and Michael Lower who was 63rd with a 237 (79-75-83).

YSU returns to action on Sept. 17-18 when it travels to Lexington, Ky., to participate in the UK Bluegrass Invitational.
