Conn Paces Penguins at Jackrabbit Invitational

Primm, Nevada -- Senior Anthony Conn tied for fifth place to lead the Youngstown State men's golf team in their spring opener at the SDSU Jackrabbit Invitational at the Primm Valley Golf Club.

On Tuesday, Conn shot a 73 and finished with a three-under par three-round total of 213 and tied Nebraska's Scott Willman for fifth place. Conn had rounds of 72 and 68 on Monday to get into contention. His 68 was a four-under par score. UMKC's Korbin Kuehn won with a 205.

Conn had 11 birdies and eight bogeys in the tournament. On Tuesday he had three birdies, all on the front nine.

In the team race, the Penguins placed 10th carding a 898. Idaho won the event with an 849.

Other finishers for YSU included Bryan Yeo who was 47th with a 227, Joe Santisi was 63rd with a 231, Mark Olbrych carded the Guins' lowest score on Tuesday with a 71 to place 70th with a 233 and Shayne Wilson was 75th with a 237. Olbrych had five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey en route to his one-under par total on Tuesday.

The Penguins return to action on April 2 at the Villanova Invitational.
