Penguins Place Ninth at Kentucky Invitational

Lexington, Ky. -- The Youngstown State men's golf team finished ninth at the 15-team UK Invitational which concluded on Sunday at the University Club of Kentucky.

Kentucky won the team crown with an 864. The Penguins had a strong first round and were in fourth place following a 299 on Saturday. YSU carded a 301 on the second round late Saturday and on Sunday had a 297 to finish with a team total of 897.

Leading the way were Anthony Conn and Mark Olbrych who both had three-round totals of 225 to place 33rd. Olbrych had rounds of 73, 79 and 73 while Conn carded a 75, 77 and a 73. Joe Santisi tied for 40th with a 226 (73-73-80), Shayne Wilson was 55th with a 229 (78-76-75) and Bryan Yeo was 71st with a 233 (82-75-76).

The Penguins get back in action quickly when they begin play at the Bowling Green Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
