Athens, Ga. - The Youngstown State men's golf team placed fifth at the Southern Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Georgia at the Athens Country Club on Monday.
The Penguins had a two-round score of 600 on Monday while Georgia won its own event with a 575. Georgia State was second (588), GRU-Augusta (592) placed third, Lipscomb was fourth (596) and the Penguins were fifth. YSU and Princeton were the two Northern-most schools in the 14-team field.
YSU was in seventh following an opening round 302 before carding a second-round 298.
Individually, Bryan Yeo was 19th with a two-round score of 148 after carding a pair of 74's. D.J. Holub was 23rd carding a 149 (74-75), Brandon Pluchinsky placed 30th with a 151 (76-75), Bill Gaffney posted a 152 (78-84) to place 34th and Thomas Lydic finished 65th firing a 160 (78-82)
The Penguins spring season ramps up on March 22-24 at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary.
