Dayton, Ohio - The Youngstown State men's golf team had its best round at the Wright State Intercollegiate which concluded on Tuesday at the Miami Valley Golf Club.
The Penguins were able to move up a spot in the final standings and place eighth out of nine teams. YSU had a three-round score of 909 (307-303-299). Valparaiso won the event beating Northern Kentucky in a playoff.
YSU improved during each round of the tournament and was led by Brandon Pluchinsky who finished 13th with a 223. Pluchinsky carded rounds of 75, 77 and 71 during the tournament.
Steven Sveda finished 28th with a 228 (78-75-75), D.J. Holub was 33rd with a 229 (75-76-78) while Bryan Yeo and Bill Gaffney tied for 48th with a score of 235. Golfing as an individual, Thomas Lydic was 38th with a 231.
The Penguins return to the links on April 11-12 when they compete in the NYX Hoosier Invitational.
