Williamsburg, Va. - Youngstown State senior golfer Brandon Pluchinsky finished in 15th place to lead the Penguins' men's golf team at the three-day Kingsmill Intercollegiate which concluded on Tuesday.
YSU finished 21st out of 24 teams with a three-round total of 910. The Penguins had scores of 305 on Sunday, 298 on Monday and 307 on Tuesday at the Kingsmill Resort River Course. Penn State won the event with an 845, five shots ahead of Tennessee.
Pluchinsky played well against a very strong field.
He had rounds of 70, 72 and 74 for a three-round 216. Other finishers for the Penguins were Bill Gaffney who was 76th with a 228, D.J. Holub was 104th carding a 234 and Jason McQuown finished 109th with a 235. Justin Hallapy had rounds of 76 and 78 at the tournament.
YSU is next in action April 2-3 when it competes at the NYX Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
