Zanesville, Ohio - Youngstown State men's golfers Brandon Pluchinsky and D.J. Holub finished in the top 20 at the Ohio Amateur Golf Championship held at the Zanesville Country Club. The four-round tournament concluded on Friday afternoon.
Pluchinsky was eighth with a four-round total of 289 and was five shots off the pace. He had rounds of 72, 72, 73 and 72 during the tournament. He ended the tournament with birdies on three of his final six holes. He was three-over par for his final round on Friday before his strong finish.
Holub had a four-round total of 293 after carding scores of 69, 71, 79 and 74 to place 20th. He was tied for the lead following the first two rounds at four-under par. During his round of 69 on Tuesday he had four birides and just one bogey for a thre-under par round.
Both players had to finish rounds early in the morning on Wednesday and Thursday. Holub had to conclude his first round on Wednesday while Pluchinsky had to complete his second round on Thursday.
YSU's Thomas Lydic competed in the first three rounds of the tournament carding scores of 73, 74 and 83. He did not make the cut for Friday's final round.
