Aurora, Ohio - Youngstown State men's golf senior Steven Sveda was 15th in a strong field at the Cleveland State Invitational which concluded on Tuesday at the Barrington Golf Club.
Sveda had rounds of 69 and 72 on Monday before finishing with a 74 on Tuesday. Sveda's three-under par round on Monday tied his career best score which came at last year's Marshall Invitational. Sveda was tied for 15th with his three-round 215 (one-under par).
Other finishers for the Penguins included Dominic Carano who was 28th with a 222 (76-70-76), Justin Hallapy finished 39th with a 225 (73-76-76), Thomas Lydic was 45th carding a 227 (77-74-76), Evan Standohar placed 47th with a 228 (79-72-77), Jacob Harrah was 59th with a 233 (82-75-76) and Jason McQuown placed 62nd with a 236 (78-80-78)
Kent State won the event with an impressive three-round score of 818. The Golden Flashes were 46-under par while Oakland was second at two-under par (862) and Cleveland State was third at one-under par (863). YSU finished 10th with rounds of 295, 292 and 302 for a team score of 889.
The Penguins are back in action on Oct. 9-10 when they participate in the Northern Illinois Invitational which is being held at The Beverly Golf Club in Chicago.
