Muncie, Ind. - Youngstown State senior Steven Sveda finished in the top 20 to lead the men's golf team at the Earl Yestingmeier Memorial Invitational which concluded on Saturday.
The tournament was the final competition for the Penguins prior to the Horizon League Championships which are set for April 23-25 in Florida.
Sveda finished 18th with a three-round total of 221. He had rounds of 72, 74 and 75 during the event. He recorded five birdies during the tournament.
Jason McQuown had a consistent event with three rounds of 76 for a 228. McQuown finished 56th and had six birdies at the event. Senior Thomas Lydic placed 62nd with a 231. Lydic had rounds of 77, 74 and 80 and carded five birdies. Placing 69th was Evan Standohar who had a three-round 235. He shot rounds of 82, 76 and 77. His final round featured an eagle three on the par-5 15th hole. He had four birdies in the tournament. Finishing with a 240 was Jacob Harrah.
The Penguins placed 12th out of 13 teams with a three-round total of 1,153 (388-379-386). Winning the event was Ball State by one shot over Eastern Kentucky.
