Penguins Have Strong Final Two Rounds at Kingsmill Invitational

Williamsburg, Va. - The Youngstown State men's golf team finished 16th in a deep field at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary at the Kingsmill Resort.

YSU finished strong with a round of 300 on Tuesday. The Penguins had a 303 on Monday and opened with a 311 on Sunday. Winning the event was Tennessee with a three-round total of 850, which was one shot ahead of Penn State. The Penguins had a three-round total of 914.

Leading the way was senior Steven Sveda who placed 51st with a 224. Sveda was consistent in the event with rounds of 75, 74 and 75. Sveda had five birdies during the tournament.

Finishing 68th was Jason McQuown with a three-round total of 228. After opening with a round of 79, McQuown carded scores of 74 and 75 at the event and had three birdies in the tournament.

Justin Hallapy placed 89th with a 233 (82-77-74) while Thomas Lydic and Dominic Carano each tied for 101st. Lydic had rounds of 75, 84 and 78 while Carano posted scores of 83, 78 and 76.

The Penguins are next in action on April 1-2 at the Hoosier Invitational.
