Penguins Continue Fall Slate at NKU Fall Classic

Batavia, Ohio - The Youngstown State men's golf team finished 12th in the NKU Fall Classic at Elks Run Golf Club on Monday. The Penguins shot 312 and 311 in the first two rounds on Sunday before posting a 305 in the final round on Monday.

YSU finished one spot behind fellow Horizon League member, Detroit Mercy, and one spot ahead of Green Bay.

Dominic Carano, competing as an individual, led the way with a three-round total of 225 (74-74-77) to finish in a tie for 29th. The junior posted YSU's lowest score in each of the first two rounds on Sunday. This was the first event of the season for the Canfield, Ohio, native. 

Jason McQuown finished tied for 38th with a three-round 228 (76-77-75) on the par-71 course. The junior shot the team's lowest score in the third and final round on Monday.

C.J. Hughes carded a 234 (78-79-77) while Kevin Scherr posted a 235 (78-78-79). 

Justin Hallapy finished with a 236 (80-79-77) and Ken Keller turned in a 238 (85-77-76).

The Butler Bulldogs took home the team victory with a three-round 868 to finish 16 over par. Nick Wilkins of Morehead State finished at one-under to take medalist honors by one stroke over Patrick Allgeier of Butler and Max Palmer of Robert Morris.

The Penguins will return to the course Oct. 2 and 3 for the Cleveland State Invitational at Barrington Golf Club in Aurora, Ohio.
