The Youngstown State men's golf team will be competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships at Athens Country Club in Athens, Ga. on Monday. This will be the second event in three days for the Penguins who traveled directly to Georgia from Boulder City, Nev. where they competed in the Jackrabbit Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Friday was the first action of the spring for YSU, who had been away from competitive play for nearly five months since the conclusion of their fall schedule in mid-October.
The event will be hosted by the University of Georgia and the Bulldogs will have two teams participating (Georgia A & Georgia B).
The remaining teams in the field include Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Florida State, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Iowa, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Nicholls State, Savannah State, Stetson, USC Upstate, Western Carolina and Wofford.
Head Coach Tony Joy has announced that YSU's lineup will include Dominic Carano, Justin Hallapy, C.J. Hughes, Ken Keller and Kevin Scherr. The Penguins used the same team lineup in their spring debut at Boulder Creek Golf Club on Friday and Saturday.
The field will play 36 holes on Monday in the one-day event with shotgun starts slated for 9 a.m. and approximately 2 p.m. ET.
The course will play approximately 6,917 yards and par is 72. Live scoring for the event will be available at Golfstat.com and via the Golfstat app.
