Guins Pick Up First Win Of Season Beating Saint Francis, 4-3

Ebensburg, Pa. -- The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up its first win of the year with a 4-3 triumph at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday.

The Guins won the doubles point and took three of the singles match to pick up the victory over the Red Flash at the Ebensburg Tennis Center.

Tariq Ismail picked up a win at No. 1 singles beating Elahn Pogue 7-5, 6-3. It was the second time this year that Ismail had defeated Pogue. At No. 2 singles, Felipe Rosa picked up a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Nathaniel Fleming while Robert Emig won a 6-1, 6-0 match over Youlian Natchev.

In doubles play, YSU won at No. 1 where Ismail and Rosa teamed up to beat Pogue and Fleming by an 8-6 score while at No. 2 doubles, Emig and Hamning beat Dietrich and Devin Layton 8-1 to pick up the doubles point.

The Penguins return to action on Friday, March 26, when they open Horizon League play at Cleveland State.
