The Youngstown State men's tennis team won three singles matches against Green Bay, but dropped a 4-3 decision to the Phoenix on Saturday afternoon at the YSU Tennis Courts.
Winning singles matches for the Penguins (6-12 overall and 2-2 in the Horizon League) were Luke Purser, Yossi Dahan and Bassem El Mekawi. The Phoenix (10-6 and 3-1) won three singles matches and took the doubles point to earn the win.
At No. 3, Purser battled back to win in three sets over Florian Kraenzler. Purser bounced back after dropping the first set 6-0 to win 7-6 and 6-3. At No. 4, Dahan cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Joshua Schramm. El Mekawi dropped his first set 7-6 to Charlie Ridout before rebounding to win the next two easily 6-2, 6-1.
Green Bay won the doubles matches 6-3 at No. 1 and 6-4 at No. 2.
The Penguins are next in action on Saturday when they visit Valparaiso.
