YSU Picks Up Seventh Dual Win With 5-2 Triumph

The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up its seventh dual victory of the season with a 5-2 win over Carnegie Mellon on Saturday at the Boardman Tennis Center.

The Penguins (7-4) equalled their win total from a year ago with the win over the Tartans.

YSU won the doubles point by claiming wins at No. 1 and No. 2 while CMU won the match at No. 3.

In singles play, YSU won matches at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.

Thomas Rodrigues won his match at No. 3 6-3, 7-6, 10-4 against Chaz Downing. At No. 4, Joao Garreto beat Mark Pettyman 7-6, 6-2. At No. 5, Gabriel Tolesani picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tommy Cheng. At No. 6, Luke Purser earned a 7-5, 6-0 win over Kunaal Wodwani.

YSU is next in action on Friday when it visits Dayton.
