YSU Picks Up 14th Win With 6-1 Win At Wright State

Dayton, Ohio - The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a solid 6-1 win over Wright State on Saturday afternoon at the South Regency Tennis Center.

The Penguins improve to 14-6 overall and 2-1 in the Horizon League. YSU is one win shy of setting a single-season school record. Wright State drops to 3-14 and 0-2.

YSU picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to claim the point. In singles play, the Penguins won five matches, all in straight sets.

In doubles play, Mitch Maroscher and Thomas Rodrigues won 6-2 at No. 1 while at No. 3 Luke Purser and Gabriel Tolesani earned a 6-3 victory.

YSU claimed straight set victories at No. 1-5 singles. At No. 1, Maroscher won 6-3, 6-0. Winning at No. 2 was Danylo Veremichuk 6-1, 6-3. At No. 3, Rodrigues won 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4 Joao Garretto picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory and at No. 5, Purser won 6-3, 6-2.

YSU is in action on Sunday at Northern Kentucky. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m.
