Indianapolis, Ind. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Butler on Friday afternoon at the Butler Bubble. Picking up a singles win for the Penguins was Joao Garretto.
The Bulldogs (2-2) won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to jump out to an early lead.
Butler went up 2-0 when YSU's Danylo Veremeichuk dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles to Mason Dragos. At No. 2, Garretto picked up an impressive 7-5, 6-1 win over Michael Dickson giving the Guins their first point.
The Bulldogs claimed a singles win at No. 3. Luke Purser won his first set against Aviv Ben Shabat, 6-4, before dropping the next two, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 4, Yossi Dahan also won his first set 6-3 over Thomas Brennan before dropping the last two, 7-6 (6) and 6-2.
The Penguins (2-1) are next in action on Feb. 8 when they visit DePaul.
