Youngstown State senior Danylo Veremeichuk was named first-team All-Horizon League while sophomore Vasilis Vardakis was named to the second team, the conference announced on Thursday.

He is just the second Penguins men's tennis player in school history to be named first-team all-league in consecutive seasons joining Silviu Mistreanu (2011-12 and 2012-13). He earned second-team honors in 2016-17 and is one of just two YSU athletes to be recognized on three occasions.

Veremeichuk earned first-team honors for the second straight season and for the third time in his career was named all-conference. In 2018-19, he has posted an overall singles record of 21-11, is 11-7 in dual contests and went 5-1 in Horizon League play. All 18 of his matches came at No. 1 in the lineup and his lone conference loss was to the HL Player of the Year, Nico Mostardi, which came in three sets. In doubles, he has a 20-10 overall and went 11-7 in duals and 4-1 in Horizon League play.

Vardakis had a strong season for the Penguins to earn all-league accolades for the first time in his career. He posted a 13-12 overall mark and went 8-7 in duals and 4-1 in Horizon League play. He played 10 matches at No. 2 posting a 6-4 mark. In doubles play, he went 14-10 with an 8-6 mark in dual play and a 3-1 record in conference play.

The Penguins are next in action on Saturday in the semifinals at the Horizon League Championships at Purdue's Schwartz Tennis Complex.
