He is just the second Penguins men's tennis player in school history to be named first-team all-league in consecutive seasons joining Silviu Mistreanu (2011-12 and 2012-13). He earned second-team honors in 2016-17 and is one of just two YSU athletes to be recognized on three occasions.
Veremeichuk earned first-team honors for the second straight season and for the third time in his career was named all-conference. In 2018-19, he has posted an overall singles record of 21-11, is 11-7 in dual contests and went 5-1 in Horizon League play. All 18 of his matches came at No. 1 in the lineup and his lone conference loss was to the HL Player of the Year, Nico Mostardi, which came in three sets. In doubles, he has a 20-10 overall and went 11-7 in duals and 4-1 in Horizon League play.
Vardakis had a strong season for the Penguins to earn all-league accolades for the first time in his career. He posted a 13-12 overall mark and went 8-7 in duals and 4-1 in Horizon League play. He played 10 matches at No. 2 posting a 6-4 mark. In doubles play, he went 14-10 with an 8-6 mark in dual play and a 3-1 record in conference play.
The Penguins are next in action on Saturday in the semifinals at the Horizon League Championships at Purdue's Schwartz Tennis Complex.
