Boardman - The Youngstown State men's tennis team won five of six singles matches to defeat IUPUI, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Avalon Athletic Club of Boardman.
With the win, YSU improves to 12-7 overall and finished 5-1 in the Horizon League regular season. It's the fewest number of losses the Guins have ever had during the league season. IUPUI falls to 13-10 and 3-3. The win was the Penguins' fourth straight overall.

The Jaguars won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles while the Penguins built a 5-2 lead at No. 2 doubles. But YSU couldn't put the Jaguars away as they won the next five points for a come-from-behind 7-5 victory and earn the doubles point.
Garretto made quick work of Colton Morehead winning 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3. The next to clinch was Gran who polished off Bradley Luetschwager, 7-5, 6-4. Dahan picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win over Eric Hollingsworth in his final home contest at No. 5 singles. Vardakis clinched the match with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Sean Bailey at No. 2 singles.
