Rochester, Mich. -- Oakland's Erika Polidori hit a three-run in the bottom of the sixth inning and lifted the Golden Grizzlies past the Youngstown State softball team, 8-6, on Sunday afternoon at the OU Softball Field.

The Penguins (26-22, 8-8 Horizon League), who trailed 5-1 after five innings, used a five-run top of the sixth inning to take a 6-5 lead. Sophomore Katie Smallcomb walked to lead off the inning and scored on senior Haley Knight's one-out triple.

Junior Kayla Haslett reached on an error that plated Knight to cut the deficit to 5-3 and freshman Sarah Dowd laced a two-out double to left-center field scoring Haslett.

Senior Courtney Ewing drove in Dowd with a single to left field to tie the game at 5-5, and sophomore Miranda Castiglione singled up the middle to score Ewing with the go-ahead run.

The Golden Grizzlies (15-19, 4-5 Horizon League) used two infield singles to lead off the bottom of the sixth and a wild pitch put runners on second and third before Polidori's go-ahead three-run home run.

The Penguins jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on senior Sarah Ingalls' double to left field that scored senior Courtney Ewing.

The Golden Grizzlies tied the game in the bottom half of the first, added another in the bottom of the third and used a three-run fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead.

Castiglione, Ewing and Knight each had two hits for the Penguins and Knight drove in a pair of runs.

The Penguins visit Toledo, Wednesday, April 30, in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
