Youngstown, Ohio -- Sophomore Jordan Macey went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and senior Casey Crozier pitched four scoreless innings to pick up her eighth win as the Youngstown State softball team defeated Pittsburgh, 4-2, on Thursday afternoon.
With win, the Penguins improve to 14-10 overall and picked up its second win this season over an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
After a single up the middle by senior Samantha Snodgrass and an infield single by freshman Maria Lacatena loaded the bases, Macey's two-run double down the left-field line gave the Penguins a 3-0 lead after four.
Pittsburgh's Maggie Sevilla ripped a two-run home run in the top of the six inning to get the Panthers within one, 3-2.
Macey answered with a two-out single up the middle to score pinch-runner Alexa Schmidt and give the Penguins a 4-2 edge.
Junior Kayla Haslett pitched three innings of effective relief to pick up her first save.
The Penguins are slated to play Cleveland State in three-game series, March 29-30, in Cleveland, Ohio.
