What Returns
The Guins enter the 2014 campaign with eight letterwinners from last season's squad that advanced to the Horizon League Tournament Championship Game. Of those eight are five seniors, a junior and two sophomores.

Casey In the Circle
Senior pitcher Casey Crozier, an All-Horizon League Second-Team and All-Tournament Team selection, returns for her fourth season and has the chance to become Youngstown State's all-time leader in wins and strikeouts. Crozier has 369 career strikeouts, which ranks second, and needs just 18 more to break the school record. Her 41 career victories rank third and she needs just six more to set the career wins mark. She also ranks fourth in innings pitched with 483.

Slammin' Sam
Seniors Senior Samantha Snodgrass turned in best season in 2013. Snodgrass was named All-Horizon League First-Team  and batted a team-best .361 with 11 doubles, four home runs and 22 runs batted in. She was also named to the Horizon League All-Tournament.

Castiglione Named to Canadian Junior National Team
Last summer, sophomore Miranda Castiglione was selected to play for the Canadian Junior National Team. She played in the 2013 ISF X Junior Women's World Championship, July 1-7, in Brampton, Ont. Last season, she batted .283 with three home runs, three doubles, a triple, 18 runs batted in and 19 runs scored as a freshman in 2013.

Youth is Served
The Penguins have nine newcomers and 11 underclassmen on this year's squad. The newcomers include seven freshman and two sophomores that transferred in January. The only underclassmen that have college playing experience are sophomores Miranda Castiglione and Jordan Macey.
