Nashville, Tenn. -- Senior Casey Crozier struck out 10 and sophomore Miranda Castiglione tied a school record with four hits to lead the Youngstown State softball team to a 5-1 win over Western Michigan on Sunday.
With the win, the Penguins improve to 4-4, and Crozier and Castiglione were both named to the Tiger Classic All-Tournament Team. For the tournament, Crozier went 2-0 with 21 strikeouts while Castiglione batted .667 going 10-for-15.
Castiglione gave the Penguins a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with a two-run home run to left field.
After the Broncos cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the first, senior Sarah Ingalls singled to right field plated Samantha Snodgrass and Castiglione to push the lead to 4-1 in the top of the third inning.
Crozier allowed just six hits in the second straight complete-game victory.
The Penguins are off until March 7 when they face Marist and UConn at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Winthrop Tournament.
