Softball Drops Pair at Wright State

Dayton, Ohio -- The Youngstown State softball team dropped a pair of games to Wright State, 9-1 and 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at the WSU Softball Field.

The Penguins fall to 11-17 overall and 4-3 in the Horizon League while the Raiders improve to 9-24 overall and 5-2 in the league.

In the opener, the Raiders scored in every inning, including a two-run third and a four-run fourth, en route to the 9-1 win in five innings.

Freshman Cali Mikovich went 2-for-2 and sophomore Maria Lacatena went 1-for-2 and hit her third home run of the season. The Penguins tallied just five hits in the first game.

In the nightcap, the Penguins recorded just four hits.

Freshman Ashley Koziol alllowed just six hits but suffered the loss.

The Penguins and Raiders will close out the series with a single game, Sunday, at 1 p.m.
