Youngstown, Ohio -- Freshman Paige Geanangel fired a two-hit shutout to lead the Youngstown State softball team to a 3-0 victory and complete the season sweep of Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon at the YSU Softball Field.

The Penguins, who have won six straight, improve to 13-11 overall and 3-0 in the Horizon League while the Crusaders fall to 3-20 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Geanangel (5-5), who struck out two, picked up her fifth win of the year and posted her fourth straight win. She allowed a single in the first and one in the seventh and only one Crusader reached third base.

The Penguins scored three runs in the bottom half of the first inning and that was all of the offense Geanangel would need. Sarah Dowd, Cali Mikovich and Miranda Castiglione each singled to load the bases and Alex Gibson plated Dowd and Mikovich with a two-run single up the middle.

Stevie Taylor's sacrifice fly to left field plated Castiglione with the Penguins' last run.

Valparaiso's Mollie Lindeman pitched five scoreless innings of relief, allowed just two hits and forced the Penguins to strand six runners over the final five innings.

Mikovich led the Penguins with two hits and had a stolen base.
