Softball Earns Split at Seahawk Invitational

Wilmington, N.C. -- Addy Jarvis struck out eight and fired a four-hit shutout to lift the Youngstown State softball team to a 4-0 win over Canisius on Saturday afternoon. The Penguins also lost to UNC-Wilmington, 3-0.

Youngstown State improves to 4-15 on the year.

In the bottom of the second, Maddi Lusk led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Grace Cea's sacrifice fly. Alex DeLeon singled and scored on a double by Elizabeth Birkbeck to put the Penguins up 2-0.

Youngtown State scored two more in the bottom of the third to go up 4-0. Birkbeck's bases-loaded walk plated Lusk, who singled, and Nikki Saibene's single drove in Cea with YSU's final run.

Lusk also went 3-for-3 against UNC-Wilmington.

Youngstown State closes out the tournament against the Seahawks on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
