Youngstown, Ohio -- Freshman Addy Jarvis fired a four-hit, complete-game shutout to lead the Youngstown State softball team to a 3-0 win over Cleveland State on Friday night at the Covelli Sports Complex.

With the win, the Penguins improve to 18-20 overall and 6-2 in the Horizon League while the Vikings fall to 10-24 overall and 3-7 in the league.

Jarvis picked up her 10th win of the season, marking the fourth straight season a YSU freshman pitcher has won at least 10 games, and collected her fifth career shutout.

Yazmine Romero and Lexi Zappitelli each went 2-for-3 and scored a run while Grace Cea had a two-run double.

In the bottom of the third, Romero and Zappitelli each singled with one out to put runners at first and second. Cea ripped the first pitch she saw into the right-center field gap plating both runners. After a ground out and an error, Alex DeLeon laced a single down the right-field line to plate Cea with the Penguins third run.

The Penguins and Vikings conclude the series with a doubleheader, Saturday, at 1 p.m.
