Softball Splits Doubleheader at Robert Morris

Moon Township, Pa. -- The Youngstown State softball team picked up a split against Robert Morris on Wednesday afternoon at the North Athletic Complex. The Penguins defeated the Colonials in game one 3-2 in game one and lost the nightcap, 4-1.

With the split, the Penguins improve to 17-20 while the Colonials move to 12-27.

In the opener, Yazmine Romero went 2-for-4 and scored two runs while Lexi Zappitelli had a run-scoring triple. Grace Cea also drove in two runs.

Elle Buffenbarger tossed a complete-game victory and struck out six to earn her fifth win of the season.

In the nightcap, Zappitelli and Tatum Christy each tallied one hit for the Penguins.

Youngstown State hosts Cleveland State in a three-game series, April 12-13, at the Covelli Sports Complex.
