Youngstown, Ohio -- The Youngstown State softball team extended its home-game winning streak to 12 games after a 2-0 win over Wright State, but the Raiders snapped the streak with a 14-6 win in game two of a doubleheader at the Covelli Sports Complex.
The Penguins improve to 21-21 overall and 9-3 in the Horizon League while the Raiders improve to 17-26 overall and 4-10 in the league.
In the opener, freshman Addy Jarvis fired a five-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to pick up her 11th win and sixth shutout of the season. Jarvis' six shutouts are tied for the fourth-most in a single season in school history.
In the nightcap, senior Dani Dadig led the Penguins with a career-best 3-for-3 performance with a triple and a run batted in. Cea finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs while senior Lexi Zappitelli hit a solo home run.
The Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings when Dadig plated Maddi Lusk with a single to center field and DeLeon scored on a Raider throwing error.
Wright State scored three times in the top of the third to take a 3-2 lead but Zappitelli blasted her second home run of the season to knot the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the third.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Penguins plated three runs to take a 6-3 lead. Dadig led off the frame with a single, advanced to second and a sacrifice bunt and moved to third on Yazmine Romero's bloop double down the left-field line. Cea then scored on a Raiders' fielding error.
The Raiders answered with eight runs on six hits in the top of the fifth and three more in the top of the seventh for the final score.
Youngstown State and Wright State conclude their series with a single game, Wednesday, at 3 p.m.
