Dominique (Nikki) Nuzum, who has nearly a decade of experience in private softball instruction and spent last season the pitching coach at Washington and Jefferson, is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Youngstown State softball program.
In 2019, Nuzum helped Washington and Jefferson’s Kristen Fuertes post a career-best season. Fuertes collected 11 wins with 13 complete games in 120.2 innings pitched.
Prior to W&J, Nuzum, the Softball Director at Pro Performance since 2014, spent a year as an assistant coach at Penn State-Fayette in 2018. During her time at PSU-Fayette, Nuzum served as the pitching coach and hitting instructor, and developed practice schedules, contributed in-game insight and handled the supervision of off-season workouts,
Nuzum also spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons as an assistant coach for the 12U All-American Games and helped her team to a second-place finish.
She served as the head coach at Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville, W.Va., in 2017. In her time with the Cee Bees, two Clay-Battelle players were selected to the West Virginia Class A All-State Team.
Nuzum also spent four years as a coach and manager of various Mon County Girls Softball travel teams.
A 2014 graduate of Fairmont State with a degree in exercise science, Nuzum earned her master’s degree in exercise science from Fairmont State in 2016.
