In the sprints, Ciara Jarrett, Nina Grambling, Alteeka Vanwright and Alexis Washington all return with a lot of experience and success.
In the throws, Jennifer Neider and Megan Wesner will be the leaders. In the jumps, Ashley Wagner, Katrina Rettburg and Leanna Hartsough all had solid 2012-13 campaigns. The pole vaulters will be strong with Hannah Ropp, Karlie Ligore and two newcomers.
A veteran distance crew is coming off the Horizon League Championship in cross country. Samantha Hamilton, Anna Pompeo, Monica Ciarniello, McKinsie Klim, Brittany Stockmaster and Libby Rogenski will be a force to be reckoned with.
Men's preview: YSU will be strong in the throwing events with Bobby Grace, Jacob Chiclowe, Stephen Lyons, Eric Vandemia and pole vaulter Garrett Mathias. Thrower John Seaver will only compete in the outdoor season.
Jay Jakovina returns to lead the jumpers. Jakovina won the Horizon League championship in the high jump as a freshman. He won both the indoor and outdoor titles.
The distance group will be led by Horizon League Cross Country champion Eric Rupe. Joining Rupe will be Nick Gliha, Austin McLean, John Hutnyan, Jon Richmond, Kyle Joynes and others.
YSU will be looking for a new group of sprinters to step up this season. Veterans Mike Davis and Tarrelle Irwin have departed, but a talented group of freshmen and sophomores will be looking to step in and challenge right away.
