Akron, Ohio - The YSU Men's and Women's Track and Field teams concluded day two of the Northeast Ohio Quad today with Bobby Grace giving the Penguins their only win from day two. Other Penguins such as Senior John Seaver and Sophomore Jennifer Neider were able to sneak in the top five of their events.
Senior Bobby Grace got the Penguins second first place in the Northeast Ohio Quad as he competed in the men's shot put where he had a throw of 18.87 meters to beat out junior Michael King of Kent State who had a throw of 18.54 meters.
Seaver was also able to finish in the top five as he took a fourth place finish throwing the shot put 16.77 meters which is his best throw of the season. Junior Jacob Chiclowe competed in the shot put as well as he finished in sixth with a toss of 15.92 meters.
The Pengiuns had three competitors in the discus and all three made the top eight. Leading the way for the Guins' was freshman Stephen Lyons who had a throw of 45.28 meters to finish in fifth, next was senior Eric Vendemia who had a toss of 44.43 meters to finish in seventh and finishing right behind him in eighth was Jacob Chiclow throwing the discus 44.34 meters.
Neider and freshman Jayne Corbett finished back to back in the top five in shot put as well. Neider had her best throw of the year throwing the shot put 13.82 meters to finish in fourth place as Corbett finished in fifth place with a throw of 13.10 meters.
Neider also had her best throw of the season in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 45.41 meters to finish in eighth place for the Penguins.
Youngstown State will compete next at the Tennessee Relays next on April 10-12.
