The Youngstown State track and field program had six student-athletes named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team on Tuesday evening. Additionally, both the women's program and men's program were honored for successful academic years.
YSU student-athletes who were selected to U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team were Samantha Hamilton, Jessica Parham, Conner Neu, John Seaver, Austin McLean and Eric Rupe.
Both programs earned All-Academic Team honors for posting a 2013-14 academic year team grade-point average of 3.00 or above. The men's team was one of 116 programs to be honored while the women's team was among a group of 208 programs to earn that distinction.
Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 727 women from 193 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments. On the men's side, a total of 496 men from 165 institutions.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
