Booth, Morales Pick Up Field Wins at Northeast Ohio Quad

Akron, Ohio - The Youngstown State track and field team competed against Akron, Kent State and Ashland at the Northeast Ohio Quad on Thursday and Friday at Akron's Lee Jackson Field.

Freshman Ryan Booth finished first in the shot put winning the event with a toss of 16.09 meters on Thursday. On Friday, Arnaldo Morales won the high jump clearing a height of 2.12 meters. Morales' jump was a personal best and ranks second in school history just .01 meters off the record.

In the running events, Tiffany Barnes second in the 100m at 12.38 seconds, McKinsie Klim was third in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:40.24, Jennifer Shiley was third in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:05.11 while Taylor McDonald was fourth with a time of 1:05.99 and Ryan Sullivan was second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:42.71.

In the long jump, Ellie Pollock was fourth with a leap of 5.40 meters while Nina Grambling was fifth with a leap of 5.37m.

YSU had two second-place finishers in the javelin. For the women, Jessica Parham had a throw of 43.90 meters while Joe Dixon had a heave of 58.12 meters for the men. 

In the hammer throw, Conner Neu placed second with a toss of 60.29 meters. In the women's high jump, Chenera Lacey was third clearing the bar at 1.63m.

The Penguins are next in action at the Tennessee Relays Powered by Sea Ray on April 9-11.
