Arnaldo Morales Breaks School Record At Northeast Ohio Quad

Akron, Ohio - Arnaldo Morales of the Youngstown State track and field team broke the school record in the high jump at the Northeast Ohio Quad meet to help lead the Penguins on Saturday afternoon. 

Morales took first in the high jump with a leap of 2.15 meters to break the previous record of 2.13 meters that was set by Dave Ritter 1989. 

Chad Zallow placed first in the 110-meter dash with a time of 14.02 seconds. 

Conner Neu took first in the hammer throw with a toss of 67.79 meters. 

For the 100-meter hurdles, Amber Eles took first with a time of 13.87 seconds. 

For the men, Leighton Antonio came in third with a time of 10.47 seconds in the 100-meter dash and Carl Zallow was right behind him to take fourth to clock a time of 10.51 seconds. 

For the 200-meter dash, Antonio took second with a time of 21.15 seconds and Chad Zallow came in third with a time of 21.43 seconds. 

In the distance events, Ryan Sullivan came in third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:58.44, Jon Hutnyan took fourth with a time of 4:01.74 and James Nedrich placed fifth to clock a time of 4:02.20. 

In field events, Berry Montravius came in fourth with a leap of 7.16 meters in the long jump. Ryan Booth placed second in the shot put with a toss of 17.43 meters. Robert Dixon took second in the javelin throw with a heave of 57.39 meters. 

For the women, Taylor Thompkins placed second with a time of 11.91 seconds in the 100-meter dash and Nina Grambling was right behind her to take third to clock a time of 11.97 seconds.

For the 200-meter dash, Keishawnna Burts took second with a time of 24.68 seconds, as Thompkins placed third with a time of 25.12 seconds. 

In the 400-meter dash, Burts placed fifth with a time of 57.44 seconds and Jayme Ritchie came in sixth to clock a time of 59.01 seconds.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Jen Shiley came in fourth to clock a time of 1:01.90 and Taylor McDonald was right behind her to take fifth with a time of 1:02.49. 

In distance events, Libby Rogenski came in third in the steeplechase with a time of 12:01.70. 

The women took first in the 4x100 relay with a time of 46.42 seconds as the relay consisted of Thompkins, Burts, Lavonte Powell and Grambling.

In field events, Chontel Fils had a personal-best jump in the long jump with a leap of 5.88 meters to take second. Fils also placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.87 meters. 

Savannah Osborne came in third in the triple jump with a leap of 11.48 meters. In the shot put, Jayne Corbett came in second with a toss of 15.60 meters. 

At the Walsh Invitational, Erin Pavick won the 5,000-meter run withg a time of 18:46.60. 

The Penguins are next in action at the Jesse Owens Track and Field Classic hosted by Ohio State on April 22-23.
