Kent, Ohio - The Youngstown State track and field teams returned to action competing at the Doug Raymond Invitational at the Kent State Field House on Saturday afternoon.
YSU competed against Kent State, Duquesne and Ohio in the four-team meet which is first competition since December for the Penguins.
Winning events for the women were Amber Eles (60m hurdles) and Chenera Lacey (high jump). Winning events for the men were Carl Zallow (60m dash), Brendon Lucas (400m), Chad Zallow (60m hurdles) and Bradley Jones (high jump).
Lucas took first in the 400m at 49.89 seconds while C.J. Schumacher was second at 52.91 seconds.
Jones cleared a height of 2.00m in the high jump to finish first in the event. Tim Holzapfel was second at 1.90m. Jones was also second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.99m.
Ryan Booth was second in the shot put with a heave of 17.15m losing by just .02 to Kent State's David Paliscak.
For the women, Eles won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.67 seconds. Lacey cleared a height of 1.65m on her first attempt to claim first in the event.
In the 60m dash, Jaliyah Elliot finished second with a time of 7.80 seconds while Taylor Thompkins placed third at 7.84 seconds. In the 3,000m run Michelle Klim was second clocking in at 10:10.12. In the triple jump Chandler Killins finished second with a leap of 11.06m.
