Youngstown State sophomore sprinter/hurdler Chad Zallow has been named the Horizon League's Alfreeda Goff Track and Field Athlete of the Year for the 2017 Outdoor season the league announced on Thursday.
It is the first time Zallow has received the Outdoor award. He is a two-time winner of the Indoor award.
Zallow leads the nation in the 110m hurdles with a school-record time of 13.37m which he ran at the Florida Relays on March 31. In the Horizon League this spring he ranks first in the 200m and fourth in the 100m.
Zallow and the Penguins are set to compete in the Horizon League Outdoor Championships starting on Friday in Youngstown.
He will compete at the NCAA Regionals on 25-27 in Lexington, Ky.
Milwaukee's Melissa Kirchoff was the recipient of the Women's Alfreeda Goff Athlete of the Year.
