Six Penguins Earn Outdoor Track and Field Academic Horizon League Honors

The Youngstown State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had six student-athletes named Academic All-Horizon League, the conference announced on Thursday.

Receiving Academic All-Horizon League honors are Dylan Dombi, James Nedrich, Jake Wilson, Carl Zallow, Jaynee Corbett and Abby Jones. Zallow and Corbett are second-time honorees while the other four student-athletes were recognized for the first time in their YSU career.

Jaynee Corbett, Youngstown State | Graduate Student
4.00 Criminal Justice (Grad)
- Has a best mark in the shot put of 15.64m at the Florida Relays
- Was fourth in the shot put at the Westminster Invitational
- Took first in the shot put at the Northeast Ohio Quad with a throw of 15.48m
- Has a best effort in the hammer throw of 43.29m which came at the Northeast Ohio Quad

Abby Jones, Youngstown State | Junior
4.00 Physical Education
- Broke the school record in the high jump clearing a height of 1.75m at the Westminster Invitational
- Cleared a height of 1.67m in the high jump at Northeast Ohio Quad
- At the Florida Relays registered a height of 1.70m in the high jump

3.72 Integrated Social Studies Education
- Has a top time of 3:52.67 in the 1,500m at the Bucknell Bison Invitational
- That time ranks as the fourth-fastest 1,500m in school history and best since 2014
- Competed in the 1,500m at the Raleigh Relays

James Nedrich, Youngstown State | Senior
3.45 Information Technology
- Competed in the 1,500m run at the Westminster Invitational running a time of 4:19.15
- Competed in the 800m and the 1,500m run at the Northeast Ohio Quad

Jake Wilson, Youngstown State | Sophomore
3.75 Natural Science
- Had a best throw in the javelin of 58.26m at the Florida Relays
- Was third at the Westminster Invitational in the javelin with a throw of 56.07m
- Finished second in the javelin at the 2017 Outdoor League Championships

Carl Zallow, Youngstown State | Senior
3.67 Special Education
- Has a top time of 10.81 seconds in the 100m dash set at the Westminster Invitational
- Has a season-best time of 22.02 seconds in the 200m dash also at the Westminster Invite
- Competed in the 100m and the 150m dash at the Northeast Ohio Quad
- Ran in the 100m and 200m dash at the Florida Relays
