High Jumpers, Sprinters Have Outstanding Day at Jesse Owens Track Classic

Columbus, Ohio - High jumpers Arnaldo Morales and Abby Jones earned victories while the men's and women's sprinters had a strong day for the Track and Field program at the Jesse Owens Track Classic on Saturday at Ohio State.

Chad Zallow won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.88 seconds. He finished 0.17 seconds in front of Ohio State's DaJuan Seward. Later in the day, Zallow placed third in the 200m dash with a time of 21.24 seconds. The time for Zallow was a career best eclipsing his previous best of 21.30 seconds.

Morales won the high jump with a leap of 2.03m. He had the same height as Findlay's Trey Everett but won by having fewer attempts. Jones won the women's high jump eclipsing 1.73m. 

Jaliyah Elliott was second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.75 seconds. Later she took fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.09 seconds to lead the Guins.

Carl Zallow was fourth in the 100m dash with time of 10.65 seconds. Brendon Lucas was sixth in the event running a time of 10.70 seconds. Lucas also clocked a time of 21.77 seconds in the 200m while Josh Beaumont ran a time of 21.87 seconds.

Amber Eles was third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.93 seconds. Eles finished behind unnattached runner and former Horizon League Champion Cassandra Lloyd and Ohio State's Chantel Ray in the 100m hurdles.

The sprint relay teams had a strong performance to open the day. The women's 4x100 relay was third with a time of 46.09 seconds. The men's relay was second with a time of 40.79 seconds. 

Nicole Squatrito finished 11th in the 1,500m with a time of 4:36.64. It was almost a three-second improvement for Squatrito on her personal-best time and moved her into second in school history in the event ahead of Emily Schnitkey.

In the men's javelin, Tyler Donati placed third with a throw of 59.48m while Jake Wilson was sixth with a toss of 56.41m.

Freshman Ashleigh Rowley had a personal-best time of 17:45.79 in the 5,000m run to set a personal best by more than a minute in the event.

Teneisha Myers had a person-best time of 56.58 seconds in the 400m dash to finish ninth while Collin Harden ran a time of 48.07 seconds in the 400m. 

In the shot put, Jaynee Corbett placed seventh with a throw of 15.32m while freshman Kaitlyn Merwin had a throw of 13.10m.

Highlighting the discus efforts was Dom Westbay whoe had a throw of 44.52m. In the hammer throw, Nicolette Kreatsoulas was sixth in the college division with a throw of 53.38m.

In the javelin, Angela Lock was sixth with a throw of 42.46m on Friday.
