Corbett, Zallow Win Events at SPIRE Division I Invitational

Geneva, Ohio - Jaynee Corbett took first in the shot put and Chad Zallow won the 60m hurdles as the Penguins competed at the SPIRE Division I Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Also for the Guins, Keishawnna Burts set the school record in the 200m dash.

Corbett won the shot put with a throw of 15.62m. She placed ahead of Fresno State's Kayla Hopkins who had a best effort of 15.18m.

Zallow won the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.75 seconds beating Penn State's William Henderson who ran a time of 8.00 seconds. Zallow also ran the 60m dash running a time of 6.83 second to palce second. Winning the event was Penn State's Xavier Smith.

Amber Eles was third in the 60m hurdles in a strong field running a time of 8.46 seconds. Winning the hurdles was Notre Dames Summer Thorpe while Penn State's Quenee Dale was second.

Daiquain Watson was third in the long jump with a leap of 6.40m. Watson was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.13m. 

In the women's 60m dash, YSU placed third and fourth. Finishing third was Jaliyah Elliott who clocked a 7.50 while Keishawnna Burts was fourth running a 7.59.

Burts was fourth in the 200m with a school-record time of 24.41 seconds while Elliott was fifth with a time of 24.52 seconds. Burts eclipsed the previous fastest time of 24.43 set by Nina Grambling in February 2015.

Ryan Sullivan had a solid performance in the 3,00m running a time of 8:20.99. 

Abby Jones placed fifth in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.68m.

Ryan Booth was seventh in the shot put with a best effort of 16.80m. Sarina Mauerman was eighth in the pole vault clearing a career-best height of 3.52m. Corbett had a throw of 17.42m in the weight throw to finish eighth.

In the 5,000m, McKinsie Klim ran a time of 17:54.60. In the men's 5,000m, the Penguins' top finisher was James Nedrich who ran a 15:26.55.

Select Penguins will be in action on Friday at the Zips Invitational in Akron.
