Penguins Welcome 21 Schools For YSU Mid-Major Invitational

The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams will play host to the YSU Mid-Major Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the WATTS. YSU welcomes 21 schools to Youngstown for the two-day event. 

Participating in the event are Bloomsburg, California (Pa.), Canisius, Clarion (Women), Cleveland State (Women), Detroit, Duquesne, Edinboro, Franciscan, Glenville State, Indiana (Pa.), Lake Erie, Lock Haven, Pitt-Johnstown, Robert Morris (Women), Seton Hill, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, Wayne State, West Virginia Wesleyan, Wheeling Jesuit and Youngstown State. Also members of the Ohio State Track Club team will be competing.

On Friday, the field events begin at 4 p.m. Running events begin at 5 p.m. On Saturday, multis and field events start at 10 a.m. with running events set for 11 a.m.

The Penguins are coming off a strong performance at the Armory's Dr. Sander Invitational. The men placed second out of 31 teams while the women were fifth out of 37.

Key competitors schedule to compete for the Penguins include: Jaynee Corbett (weight throw and shot put), McKinsie Klim (5,000 meters), Ryan Sullivan (5,000 meters), Teneisha Myers (400m), Brendon Lucas (200m and 400m), Collin Harden (200m and 400m), Amber Eles (60m hurdles and 200m), Jaliyah Elliott (60m and 200m), Keishawnna Burts (60m and 200m) and Carl Zallow (60m) among others.

YSU's Chad Zallow is scheduled to compete in the 60m hurdles at the Millrose Games in New York. Zallow's race on Saturday begins at 4:08 p.m. and will be shown live on NBCSN.
