New Orleans, La. - The Youngstown State men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field programs both earned All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2018-19 season, the association announced.

The Penguins' women's team posted a team grade-point average of 3.36 while the men's program boasted a 3.13 team GPA.

Individually, Abby Jones (Physical Education), Ryan Sullivan (Chemistry), Jake Wilson (Biology) and Chad Zallow (Business/Finance) garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

Jones was been named Third-Team Google Cloud Academic All-America selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

She was the first female track and field athlete to be recognized with Academic All-America honors and the first since Aaron Merrill was a second-team pick in 2010.

Sullivan and Zallow were both two-time Academic All-Horizon League selections.

To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:

  • For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
  • For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
