Youngstown State University junior Jaliyah Elliott has qualified to compete in the 100m and 200m dashes at the NCAA East Preliminary Round which will be held May 23-25 in Jacksonville, Fla. The event is being hosted by North Florida and Jacksonville Sports Authority at Hodges Stadium.
Elliott, who qualified for the 2017 east preliminaries as a freshman, makes her second appearance on the national stage this season after running in the 60m dash at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in March. Elliott is coming off a pair of Horizon League championships as she enters the prelims ranked 39th in the 100m with a season-best time of 11.53 seconds at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational. She ranks 43rd in the 200m dash with a best time of 23.65 seconds at the Horizon League Championships.
At the 2017 prelims, Elliott competed in the 200m dash clocking a time of 24.17 seconds at the University of Kentucky.
The 100m will be run on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 pm and Friday, May 24 at 1:00 p.m. from Hodges Stadium. The 200m will take place on May 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 25 at 7:35 p.m.
