Select Group of Penguins to Compete at Last Chance Meets

Select members of the Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams will be in action on Friday afternoon at Baldwin Wallace's Harrison Dillard Twilight, North Central College's Dr. Keller Invitational and Allegheny's Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational. 

The Penguins will have one final chance to earn qualifying times and marks for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship 1st Round East Preliminaries scheduled to begin on May 23 in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Harrison Dillard Twilight

Select throwers and jumpers will begin competition at 12 p.m. as the men's hammer throw kicks things off from George Finnie Stadium. Competing for the Penguins are Nicolette Kreatsoulas (hammer throw), Zach Gehm (discus throw), Kira Neef (high jump), Abby Jones (high jump), Jett Murphy (pole vault), Dylan Latone (pole vault), Wyatt Lefker (pole vault), Macklin Rose (pole vault), Chontel Fils (triple jump), Kaitlyn Merwin (shot put), Dom Westbay (shot put) and Brandon Orlando (shot put). 

Dr. Keller Invitational

Friday's running events will begin at 3:00 p.m. and continue on a rolling schedule from Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Sophomore Sean Peterson is slated to run in the 1500m while senior Alan Burns is scheduled to compete in the 3000m steeplechase. 

Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational

The meet gets underway at 10 a.m. with a variety of field events from Frank B. Fuhrer Field. The first Penguin to compete will be Derek Morrison in the 400m hurdles at 4:10 p.m. Mikel Lagaras (800m run) and James Nedrich (1500m run) are also scheduled to compete for YSU.
