Men's Program Adds Transfer Dakari Carter

The Youngstown State men's track and field program has added transfer Dakari Carter from the University of Toledo, Head Coach Brian Gorby announced on Tuesday. Carter will enroll at YSU in the 2019 fall semester and has three years of eligibility beginning with the 2019-20 indoor season.

Carter, who was a high school track star at Streetsboro High School in Streetsboro, Ohio, spent his last two seasons playing football for the Rockets. During his high school career, Carter was three-time DII OHSAA State Champion in the 100m dash. His personal best time in the event was 10.50 seconds, and he was the fastest high runner in the state of Ohio during the 2015 and 2016 outdoor seasons. 

Carter also competed in the 200m dash during his high school career and posted a personal best time of 21.36 seconds during his sophomore season. As a freshman, Carter finished third at the DII OHSAA State Track and Field Championships.
